How eXp Onboarding Works (What to Expect & What You’ll Need)

This educational guide covers the typical U.S. onboarding process at eXp Realty — from application and activation to license transfer and tool setup — plus a checklist to make your transition smooth.

At a Glance

4 phases from “Apply” to “Sell”

  1. Apply: Submit your join application.
  2. Activate: Once active in Enterprise, you’ll get a Welcome Email. A $149 join fee is usually charged within 24–48 hours.
  3. License Transfer: Your State Broker Team sends you instructions to affiliate your license.
  4. Set Up Tools: Complete Okta/SSO, MyeXp, choose your CRM of Choice (BoldTrail, Lofty, Cloze), SkySlope, Workplace, and eXp World.

New agents: With fewer than 3 transactions in the last 12 months, you’ll join the Mentor Program until graduation. Required mentee transactions include an extra 20% split (10% to eXp, 10% to mentor).

Co-Sponsor (optional): Agents joining on/after May 1, 2025 may select a Co-Sponsor within 5 days. This is separate from your Primary Sponsor.

Onboarding Analyst

Reviews your application and activates your account in Enterprise. A Welcome Email confirms activation.

Join Fee

The one-time $149 Join Fee is charged within 24–48 hours of activation in Enterprise.

License Transfer

Your State Broker Team emails exact steps. Once affiliated, move into tool setup.

What You’ll Need

Have these ready to move fast

  • Legal name, email, and mobile number
  • License & MLS info (or “pre-licensed” if new)
  • Government ID and W-9 (or applicable tax form)
  • Direct deposit details for commission payouts
  • Your chosen Primary Sponsor (who most influenced your decision)

Tool Setup

After activation & license affiliation

  • Okta / SSO: Single sign-on to all systems
  • MyeXp: Track transactions, rev share, and notifications
  • CRM of Choice: Pick BoldTrail, Lofty, or Cloze (included in $85/mo tech fee)
  • SkySlope: Transaction management
  • Workplace & Chat: Collaboration, referrals, announcements
  • eXp World & eXp University: Live + on-demand learning

FAQs

When will I be charged the $149 join fee?
Within 24–48 hours after activation in Enterprise. You’ll also get a Welcome Email.
Who contacts me about transferring my license?
Your State Broker Team will send specific steps to complete your transfer.
What if I’m a brand-new agent?
