Thinking About Joining eXp Realty? Experience eXpcon Before You Decide

If you're an experienced real estate agent, team leader or brokerage owner considering eXp Realty, you probably don't need another sales presentation. You need enough information and firsthand perspective to decide whether the brokerage actually fits the business you're trying to build.

Community
Training
Technology
Business Model
Agent Experience

eXpcon can give you an opportunity to experience a much larger piece of the eXp ecosystem in person: meet agents, hear from leadership and speakers, ask questions, observe the community and then make your own decision.

Quick Answer

Should You Attend eXpcon Before Joining eXp Realty?

If you're already considering eXp Realty and attending eXpcon is practical for you, the conference can provide another useful perspective before making a brokerage decision. Instead of evaluating eXp only through websites, videos or recruiting conversations, you can meet agents, experience the community, learn about resources and ask questions directly.

That doesn't mean a conference should make the decision for you. Your brokerage choice should still be based on the economics, support, technology, training, culture and opportunities that matter to your own business.

A Better Way to Evaluate

Don't Choose a Brokerage Because the Presentation Was Exciting

A great event can create energy. A strong speaker can create motivation. Neither one automatically means a brokerage is right for your business.

For an established real estate professional, I think the more useful approach is to separate the excitement of the event from the fundamentals of the decision.

Experience the People

Talk with agents who are actually operating inside the company. Ask what they use, what they value, what surprised them and what they would want to know if they were evaluating the brokerage again.

Evaluate the Model

Look at the commission structure, fees, technology, training, brokerage support, team options and other opportunities based on how they would apply to your business.

What to Look For

Five Things I'd Pay Attention to at eXpcon

If you're attending while evaluating eXp, don't spend the entire conference simply listening. Pay attention to what you see happening around you.

05

Use the conference as a research opportunity, not just an event.

1. The Agents

Who are you meeting? Are they collaborative? Are experienced producers, team leaders and business builders willing to share what they're doing? The people surrounding a brokerage can matter just as much as the logo.

2. The Training

Listen for ideas that apply beyond the conference. More importantly, ask what learning opportunities continue throughout the year after everyone goes home.

3. The Technology

Don't ask whether eXp has technology. Ask whether the available tools, platforms and systems would actually make your business easier or more scalable.

4. The Community

A cloud-based brokerage can still have a substantial human community. Look at how agents connect, collaborate, refer business and help one another.

5. The Opportunities Beyond Your Next Closing

If you're already producing, think about what you want the next stage of your career to look like. That could involve stronger margins, leadership, team growth, collaboration, ownership opportunities or simply building a more efficient business.

For Experienced Agents

You May Not Need a New Brokerage. You May Need a Better Environment.

If you're already closing transactions, you know how to sell real estate. The question isn't necessarily whether another brokerage can teach you the basics.

The question may be whether your current environment is still helping you become the professional and business owner you want to be.

1

Community

Are you surrounded by professionals who challenge you, share ideas and expose you to different ways of building a real estate business?

2

Growth

Does your current brokerage give you room to build the next version of your business, whether that's higher production, a team, leadership or something beyond personal sales?

3

Resources

Are the technology, training, systems and support you're paying for resources you actually use and value?

Being Comfortable Isn't the Same as Being in the Best Place for Your Next Stage

There is nothing inherently wrong with staying at a brokerage that works. But established agents should periodically ask whether their current model still aligns with where they want their business to go.

eXp may or may not be the answer. The point of doing the research is to understand the difference before you decide.

After Everyone Goes Home

The Bigger Question: What Happens After eXpcon?

A brokerage shouldn't be judged only by its biggest annual conference. If you're evaluating eXp, ask what remains available during an ordinary week in February, May or September.

eXp maintains ongoing agent resources that include training, onboarding, business tools, team and organization support, marketing resources and other professional-development opportunities. The value of those resources will depend on which ones fit your business and whether you actually use them.

Training

Look beyond conference sessions and investigate the ongoing learning environment available throughout the year.

Tools & Systems

Evaluate which resources could actually support your transactions, marketing, organization and business development.

People

Consider who you'll continue interacting with after the event, including agents, leaders, brokers, mentors and your own organization.

Do Your Homework

Questions to Ask Before Joining eXp Realty

If you're seriously evaluating a brokerage move, write your questions down before you attend. It's easy to forget what mattered once you're surrounded by the energy of a large event.

Your Business

Questions to Ask Yourself

  • Why am I considering leaving my current brokerage?
  • What specifically do I want to improve?
  • What resources do I actually use today?
  • Where do I want my business to be in three years?
  • Do I want to remain a solo producer, build a team or pursue something larger?
  • What would make changing brokerages worth the disruption?
The Brokerage

Questions to Ask eXp

  • How would the current commission and fee structure apply to my production?
  • What ongoing training would I realistically use?
  • How does brokerage support work in my state?
  • Which technology and business tools are included or available?
  • How are teams and larger organizations supported?
  • Who will help me during and after the transition?

Common Questions

Joining eXp Realty & eXpcon FAQ

Should I attend eXpcon before joining eXp Realty?

You don't have to attend eXpcon before joining eXp Realty. However, if you're already considering the brokerage and attending is practical, the event can provide an opportunity to meet agents, experience the community, learn about resources and ask questions before making your decision.

Should eXpcon be the reason I join eXp Realty?

A brokerage decision should involve more than a conference experience. Consider the current compensation structure, fees, technology, brokerage support, training, community and other opportunities in relation to your own business goals.

Is eXp Realty only a good fit for new agents?

eXp supports professionals at different stages of their careers. Experienced agents, teams and brokerage leaders may evaluate the company for reasons that differ from those of a brand-new agent, including business economics, technology, collaboration, training, team support and long-term growth opportunities.

What should an experienced agent ask before changing brokerages?

Start with why you're considering a change. Then compare compensation, costs, brokerage support, technology, training, culture, team options and the resources you would realistically use. A brokerage should be evaluated based on how well it fits the business you're trying to build.
